Grooveshark, your favorite streaming music service (and one of ours, too), just overhauled its site and web player to make it much easier to discover new songs you'll love, follow artists so their newest releases are presented to you automatically, and navigate the depths of your music library to build playlists and find something great to listen to.
My Grooveshark library is pretty big, so it can be tricky sometimes to find something I want to hear in it, but the new version of the site makes searching and filtering your music collection a bit easier. Plus, the layout brings suggested music right to your home screen, so you can discover new bands as soon as you log in, or play tracks from artists already in your library or that you've listened to recently. From the home screen, you can also follow artists you like, connect with friends to see what they're listening to, and explore what's popular or new in any genre.
Of course, at any time you can drag and drop music to the player at the bottom to hear it, or just click play in the tiled UI. The service also makes it easier to share what you're listening to on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. The redesign is mostly cosmetic, but it felt snappier when I used it, and the addition of music discovery on the home screen was a welcome addition (although I can see how some people would just want to go right to their libraries.) The team behind Grooveshark is also inviting artists to exercise more control over their presence by claiming their profiles, interacting with fans, and sharing new releases through the service with other Grooveshark users and fans who follow them. The new site is live now, you can check it out at the link below.
