SKIN CANCER: Free Screening At The Capitol | WHOTV.com

skin cancer screening

Laws weren?t the only thing being inspected at the capitol on Wednesday.

Dermatologists held a free skin cancer screening clinic for legislators and statehouse staff.

There was a good turnout and the doctor?s told several people they should have more screening done.

Organizers backed a bill this session that would make it illegal for anyone under 18 to use a tanning bed. The bill didn?t make it out of committee, but they say they?ll try again next year.

At the screening Wednesday the doctors were telling people to look for the A,B,C,D,E?s of skin cancer.

A ? asymmetry in the lesion or mole

B ? border irregularity in the lesion or mole

C- color irregularity in the lesion or mole

D- diameter?the larger a spot, the more concerning it is

E ? an evolving or changing lesion
