My family and I take walks regularly, however seeing the same things over and over can get a little boring. I started to notice the kids were lagging and we weren?t as motivated to get out the door. I had to fix this quickly. I started thinking of different ideas to make our family walks more entertaining. Sure we could bring our bikes and get in some added?exercise?but that would only hold us over for so long. ?I was starting to get bored thinking about ways to motivate us when it hit me! We were going to go on a nature scavenger hunt.?
?
The gears started turning again. What ?items would we look for? How many things should I put on the list? ?Will I be able to make this fun for all of my kids? We have an age range of 8-13, so we would have to have a good balance of easy and hard things to find. The more I thought about it the more I realized we could make this a seasonal adventure.
Fall Scavenger Hunt List
- A large red leaf
- A small yellow leaf
- 3 Acorns
- Pine Cone
- Flat Rock
- Yellow Mums
- Pumpkins
- Halloween Decorations
- Spiderweb
- Animal Hole in the ground
- Nest
- Footprint
- Feather
I had some items on the list like the leaves, acorns and pinecones that the kids can bring home and make a craft with. Don?t let your outdoor fun end with the scavenger hunt. You can do a leaf rubbing with the leaves you brought home or paint the rocks in fall colors to display on your porch. If your kids finish the list to quick, add more items next time. The kids had a great time looking for the items and it made our walk time that much more enjoyable.
